Single Girl's Guide to Staying Afloat

So it all begins...

Today, a damp and gloomy day. Driving to work in what is nearly complete darkness from the damaging duo of both time and weather, I notice a little extra "mood lighting" in my car. There it was, a little additional flicker of light in the corner of my dashboard. Just what I had been praying wouldn't happen since my divorce nearly 9 months ago... a SERVICE LIGHT!

This scenario had been playing out in my mind for some time now. Secretly, I have been hoping that this car that was once in my ex-husband's name would "play nice" until the end of its' lease. So much for that!

As if every other moment since he had made the decision to throw away the best thing that ever happened to him (MOI ;) ) hadn't been a lesson to learn from, this one became an instantaneous eye opener. I realized I was alone to deal with all of the shit I never wanted to deal with: the car, using a plunger, taking out the trash, and all of the other "less than glamorous" tasks I once placed on him.

So, "Pop Quiz HotShot": If you ever have a little light in the shape of a windshield light up on your dashboard, should you immediately freak out and pull off the road?

NO! It's just your car begging for an extra shot of windshield wiper fluid the way you look at that tall Redeye you order at Starbucks every morning!

The one thing I can take from this lesson today: I made someone laugh a little (including myself) and that's just fine with me!
